SEGMENT 1: 10 pm - 11 pm Eastern / 7 pm - 8 pm Pacific DR AND MASTER ZHI GANG SHA - The founder of the Institute of Soul Healing and Enlightenment - Dr. Sha is a medical doctor in China and a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine in China and Canada. Born in the Shaanxi province of China in 1956, he became interested in healing as a young child as he observed people in his immediate and extended family struggling with a variety of illnesses. At the age of six, he was accepted by the first of several masters in Eastern martial arts. At 22, even before completing his training as a physician, Dr. Sha began to combine the knowledge of energy development he had learned through his practice of martial arts with traditional Chinese acupuncture to create his own unique acupuncture system. Dr. Sha went on to study at Xi'an Jiaotong University, completing his medical degree in Western medicine in 1983. He was also certified as an acupuncturist and herbalist in 1986 by the World Health Organization's Institute of International Acupuncture and Moxibustion in Beijing, where he taught acupuncture, tai chi and qigong to foreign physicians. He is a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine and a registered acupuncturist in Canada. In 2005, under the aegis of Dr. Zhi Chen Guo, his revered teacher in China since 1990, he became the sole Western teacher of Body Space Medicine, which helped contain the SARS epidemic in China. Dr. Sha also completed a Master's degree in Hospital Administration at the University of the Philippines in 1988. While there, word of his skill as an acupuncturist spread and he treated numerous VIPs while offering a street clinic for the poor. He is currently leading a major project to elevate collaboration in marine science and conservation among Cuba, Mexico and the U.S. to a new level and leading the first-ever comprehensive research and conservation program in Cuba's Gulf of Mexico region, a joint effort with the University of Havana. Also known as the "Ocean Doctor" and host of the ExpeditionCasts podcast series, Dr. Guggenheim is currently engaged in a special "expedition" to all fifty U.S. states visiting schools and bringing special programs about ocean exploration and conservation to young students. So far he has traveled more than 35,000 miles, visited 13 states, made 39 speeches and reached more than 10,000 students in schools ranging from the northernmost community in North America, Barrow, Alaska, to Macksville, Kansas, close to the geographic center of the lower 48 states, to the southern tip of Florida.
